FH5 is unplayable, BOCW is a slideshow… Console isn’t the best but it works.Īs for the iPad, I paid $116 at Walmart for my A7 vs. My Ryalready can’t game worth a shit outside of medium/high settings and it’s backed by 24GB RAM and a 2070. you werent going to get more than a few years out of it before it got too slow for general use anyway.I feel that. Though given that even if its the i7, its a dual-core, 4-thread CPU. Its not the fastest computer out there, by any means, and you're going to hit artificial end-of-life in about 18 months when Apple completes their transition to Apple Silicon. More on topic, for daily driving, itll probably be just fine. My father in law has an A7 Lite and man is that thing a pig.

I can regularly find current gen iPads for ~200$ on FB Market or similar. And it will absolutely curb stomp that A7 Lite. wot m8? You can get an ipad for 289$ (the 329$ model frequently goes on sale at Amazon and Best Buy). There are licensing and rights issues involved, which is why it hasn't already appeared and likely never will.Įrr. I think Snow Leopard in college for inDesign and Photoshop.Īint gonna happen. My science teacher in 6th grade had one of the old 128k models. Our school district had Macs running OS 9 up until 2005. Not the first time I've used a Mac, actually. iPads are too damn expensive for just wanting to read eBooks and comics/manga and watch HBO Max shows on lunch.

Not an iPad though- that's a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

So I thought, "Why not try something new with my computer experience?" I'm familiar with the Apple aesthetic since I have an iPhone X and a Series 3 Apple Watch. I shelled out for my Series S and PS5 for a reason- I know to most people here that seems strange, but I genuinely enjoy them and I have no interest in building a new PC, especially with the video card prices right now. So it's a waste- I'm actually considering selling my RTX 2070 to make some extra cash.

Everything else I can play on console, and I don't do anything on my PC these days besides surf the internet. The former once CDPR dislodges their heads from their backsides and remasters it. The only real issue is if you decide you -want- to do something else.Only things I'll miss from my PC are being able to play The Witcher 1 and P4G- and the latter is more than likely coming to PS4/PS5 sooner than later I think. They're just not great for gaming, or for the price unless you're doing something specific. I sort of cringe at the 128gb drive but as long as you arent saving a ton of photos on it that shouldn't be an issue. If its just for internet use and documents and stuff, it'll be perfectly fine. I'm not sure if it will be outright bad, but don't be surprised if things get a little slow. MacOS, IMO is a much better and sleeker casual user experience - for your stated use case it's ideal, but in the end you really have some underpowered rig there, so I imagine that will drag the experience down. Heck I already had to service Precision twice over fan replacement and then battery replacement, so paint me not excited with Dell's finest. I happen to own pretty much mirror specced MBP 2018 and Dell Precision 5530 (I7 8850H vs I7 8750 accordingly with rest practically identical except for GPU) and I am happy to report that as far OS and engineering goes - Apple simply do it better. But put your expectations accordingly to the tag, it also might have degraded battery because it simply happens overtime. I imagine it will make ok stop gap for basic stuff, internet and some Nerflix.

As long as it can handle normie computer tasks (word processing and such) better than my crappy $200 Acer laptop, I'm good.ĭon't expect anything, but only because it's really underpowered by today's standards. I honestly don't do much if any power computing these days.

My plan right now is to use it until they drop support for Intel- which is probably another year or two- and then get one of the newer M1 Mac Minis since a full iMac is going to be out of my price range for a long time. This was an A1466, probably the basic model in terms of specs- they usually sell their computers in price tiers based on hardware quality. So I thought, "I've always wanted a Mac." And I went looking for one on eBay.Īnd the result of my searching was a 2017 Macbook Air for $303. But I'm going to take a chance and ask anyway since somebody might actually know.Īnyway, I decided to hang it up as far as PC gaming goes, and to switch to something on the more casual side. So I'm not sure if asking about Macs is okay here since most MMOChamp people are PC gamers.
